Redesigning The Baronesa Apartment

The Baronesa Apartment underwent a transformative renovation to meet the dynamic lifestyle needs of its residents while enhancing the aesthetic appeal and functionality of its spaces. Led by Lucia Manzano Arquitetura + Paisagismo, the project aimed to create a modern, luminous, and flexible living environment that seamlessly blends comfort with contemporary design.

Flexible Living Spaces

The original layout of the apartment featured a spacious living room, master bedroom, and two additional bedrooms. However, the clients desired a fully renovated kitchen that could integrate seamlessly with the living room or be closed off when necessary. To achieve this, a sliding door system was introduced, offering flexibility to open up or enclose the kitchen space as per the residents’ preferences.

Optimizing Room Layouts

A key challenge faced during the renovation was optimizing the layout of the living room, given its square shape. A double sofa was strategically positioned to divide the space into a TV area and a lounge, ensuring functionality and comfort for various activities. Additionally, a bespoke woodworking bookshelf was crafted to provide ample storage while harmonizing the rooms’ aesthetics.

Balcony Integration

The balconies emerged as integral features for social gatherings, prompting the design to seamlessly extend the living room layout into these outdoor spaces. This integration creates a welcoming ambiance for entertaining guests and enjoying leisure time with family and friends.

Minimalist Interior Design

Embracing a minimalist and inviting style, the apartment’s interior decor features contemporary Brazilian furniture pieces complemented by classic Scandinavian design elements. The combination of modern aesthetics promotes lightness and harmony throughout the spaces, creating an atmosphere of understated elegance.

Master Bedroom Retreat

In the master bedroom, continuity with the apartment’s color palette was maintained, focusing on white, wood, and cement accents. The burnt cement texture headboard of the bed, along with wooden floors and bedside tables, creates a cozy and comforting retreat. A unique green curtain made of hanging plants not only ensures privacy but also adds a touch of nature to the space, enhancing its overall ambiance.

The redesign of The Baronesa Apartment reflects a thoughtful approach to space optimization and aesthetic refinement, resulting in a harmonious blend of modern design and functional living.
