Designing the Tijolinhos Apartment: A Space of Total Integration
The Tijolinhos Apartment, conceived by Mínimo Arquitetura e Design, posed the challenge of creating a space characterized by total integration, departing from the traditional logic of environmental division. The objective was to cater to short-term rentals while also serving as a comfortable residence for the owner, who enjoys cooking and hosting guests. With this premise in mind, the design concept focused on seamlessly blending different functionalities within the space.
Central Link: The Kitchen Island Counter
At the heart of the apartment lies the kitchen island counter, strategically positioned to serve as a central link between various living spaces. This multifunctional counter features a high table with stools, encouraging interaction and socialization among guests. It serves as a focal point, facilitating a seamless flow between different areas of the apartment.
Multifunctional Metallic Structure
A metallic structure spans across the apartment, unifying the space from end to end. This structure, attached to the ceiling slab, serves multiple purposes throughout the apartment. It functions as a closet and bench at the entrance, transitions into a hanging cupboard for the kitchen island, and transforms into a shelf for objects and plants near the sitting area. Additionally, it acts as a light shelf, diffusing soft and pleasant lighting across the entire space.
Linear Logic and Functional Design
The design follows a linear logic, optimizing space utilization and functionality. An electrified rail parallel to the shelf provides directional lighting, illuminating furniture, artworks, and objects strategically. A large hidden drawer behind the TV panel discreetly stores cleaning materials and household items, ensuring a clutter-free living environment.
Bringing the Outdoors Indoors
Despite the absence of a balcony, the design aimed to evoke the ambiance of an outdoor space. Expansive glass windows offer unobstructed views of an extensive garden, while carefully curated furniture, plants, and hammock hooks create a cozy environment reminiscent of a balcony. This thoughtful integration of elements brings a touch of nature into the apartment, enhancing its overall appeal and livability.
