Introduction to the Sprite Cabin
The Sprite Cabin, located in the “Fragrant Lake” area of Huanggang City, Hubei Province, is part of the Wiki World Co-Building Plan. This initiative aims to create a series of uniquely designed natural homes within the scenic Fragrant Lake region.
A Home Inspired by Nature and Imagination
Situated on the Inner Lake Peninsula, the Sprite Cabin enjoys a serene location adjacent to the waterfront, surrounded by a bamboo forest. The design of the cabin was inspired by the idea of a home for sprites, fulfilling a child’s dream of a magical wooden house. The cabin’s form is derived from the geometric logic of natural crystals, with the plan consisting of three interconnected hexagons serving as the bedroom, living room, and bathroom. The crystal-like design includes an entrance and an irregular viewing window, tailored to offer captivating views. The tallest hexagon houses the bedroom, featuring a loft that adds to the whimsical charm, especially loved by children.
Innovative and Eco-Friendly Construction
The Sprite Cabin is constructed entirely of laminated wood, with each irregular component and node designed and customized using digital technology. This method allows for 100% full assembly construction. The exterior of the cabin features fish-skin-like wood tiles and mirror aluminum plates. The lakeside portion displays a rustic wood texture, while the entrance side, backed by the bamboo forest, utilizes mirror aluminum plates to minimize the building’s environmental impact. These contrasting materials blend harmoniously, integrating the cabin seamlessly into its natural surroundings. The construction approach follows Wiki World’s commitment to preserving natural landscapes, retaining every tree on the site, and maintaining the original woodland and farmland paths and textures.

The Sprite Cabin’s secluded peninsula location offers a sense of solitude and connection with nature. The cabin’s spiritual essence is captured in its pointed shape, rustic wooden surface, and translucent irregular windows. In the evening, the cabin’s lights reflect off the lake, creating a magical ambiance. The structure is purely wooden, with a fireplace inside, encouraging barefoot exploration of the space. The crystal structure allows for a high, open interior without distinct floors, providing views of the nearby water through triangular windows.
